A version of this picture appeared in slipperysally’s post earlier, but I’m dragging it out into the light because it’s extra neat. It is: a 1929 Packard with coachbuilt bodywork that

If I had such an unfortunate last name, I’d want to drive the coolest car on the planet too. That thing is impressive. I think I’d have finished the chassis irons in a contrasting color though, and lose the bumpers.

I don’t think I’ve ever lusted more for a pre-war car.

Best source on chassis might be modding the rails from a Ford AA truck. They’re apparently really easy to find.

Goddammit. I’m pretty sure I know where to find one 20 minutes away. Dude I know has heaps of pre & postwar old trucks just sitting on his property. I’m also browsing Craigslist way too early in the day... seems a complete AA is well under $10k.

I really need to go ahead and become independently wealthy so I can stop being a dickbag coming up with really enticing and practical ideas I’m not committing to or funding.

There is like no room for the driver. It’s like that Jay Leno’s Garage episode where he gets in a pre war car by stepping in, sitting in the passenger side and then sliding over into the driver side. There is a lot of fucking car there, can’t they give him more than six inches between his face and the wheel? His arm has to go outside bent.

I have always wanted to build a pre war car like the guys that show up at Leno’s, all wood and a massive engine.

It’s so there’s a minimal distance to lift his hands to rub them in glee in front of his face. But no, I see what you mean. I’ll put that down as something to be fixed if TFritch and I ever make an homage car.

Yeah, I’ve been trying to do that myself, but it turns out I picked the wrong industry. All these kickass ideas, just waiting for funding.

Not even that much funding, either.

I knew a man who had the last name Glasscock. After years of teasing he finally gave it up (in his 30's) and changed it to Evans. I always wondered what took him so long.
